Be thankful for our beautiful years...

When I am gone, release me,
let me go.
I have so many things
to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears.
Be thankful for our beautiful years.

I gave to you my love. You can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown.
But now it's time I traveled on alone.

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a time that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on
And if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
and if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone
I'll greet you with a smile, and say
"Welcome Home!"

This past week was a very sad one for my family. We lost a life-long friend; a mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, Christian, friend and so much more. She was an amazing woman who will be deeply missed by many.

With love,

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Lunch with Nana & Grandpa

Last Sunday we met Nana and Grandpa/Papio/Grandma/Papa (Lily is still undecided) for lunch in Cookesville, TN. The visit was too short, but very nice. Lily was in a great mood and LOVED getting some play time in with Nana and Grandpa.

She'll be coming around the mountain when she comes...

Good evening,

This past weekend we took a mini vacation to Gatlinburg, TN with some friends of ours. It was loads of fun and the kids (Lily, Jake, Elizabeth & Nicholas) were all great! I especially enjoyed watching Lily and Jake play together Sunday night. The two of them are finally at a point where they can communicate and play together and they play really well!

This is our cabin

It had heated floors!! I think I enjoyed them more than anyone else. :)

Anyways, back to the trip... We left Thursday afternoon and had our first dinner together at the cabin Thursday night (thank you Roger Family).
We got a little bit of snow Thursday night and went sledding on the golf course Friday morning. It was so much fun! Lily loved sledding and did not want to stop.

On Saturday morning some of us went to a local playground so the kids could play. After nap time, we went to Apple Barn for some wine tasting and ice cream!!

Nathan and I had a great time spending the long weekend with Lily and watching all of the kids play together. It was fun seeing all of their different personalities.

I got some great shots of the kiddies while we were there.

It can only get better

The second week of 2011 hasn't been much better than the first. I'm generally an easy going, relaxed, take things as they come, positive person... I try to be anyways. But so far, 2011 has not been on my side. I figure: It can only get better, right?

Let's hope.

The week started off well. On Monday, we got over 7 inches of snow! Nathan, Lily and I got to spend the day together. We went outside and attempted to get Lily to play in the snow with our neighbors. She just wasn't too sure about it. She just stood there and looked at us like we were crazy.

Wednesday comes and we all have to go back to work. After dropping Lily off at daycare, I got stuck on snow and ice. Now when does that ever happen in Columbia, South Carolina?? Thank goodness for USAA!

The week is looking up. I'm looking forward to my three day weekend. I plan on going to visit Papa Charlie on Saturday. Please continue praying for him. He's having a difficult time right now.

I love Saturdays!

I love Saturdays. I wish every day were Saturday. Today we enjoyed a nice relaxing morning. Nathan let me sleep in this morning, wish I was so very thankful for. This past week has been a little rough for me, so I was glad to catch up on my rest.

So, anyways, Nathan built me a fire last night and it was going again when I woke up this morning and we've kept it going all day. I just love having a nice, hot fire on a cold winter day. Oh! Guess what? I finally put up my Christmas decorations today!! Nathan tells me that I didn't put the tree up until March last year.... I don't recall that, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. So, I guess for me, I'm ahead of the game this year. Maybe it will be a good year after all!

One of my many resolutions this year (all of which I plan/hope to keep) is to be a better housekeeper. Housekeeping isn't my strong suit and I'm super jealous when I walk into someone's house (like my sister's) and it's immaculate. I want my house to be that way... all the time. Unfortunately, I can't afford to pay someone to do it for me. I'm thinking that there may actually be hope, since I did get my tree up within 2 weeks of Christmas. However, I'm still trying to catch up on the laundry.

Well, I'm off to bed. Lily wakes up early in the morning.

Is it only Wednesday?

Unfortunately, yes. I had higher hopes for the first week of 2011. I sure hope that this isn't a foreshadowing of how the whole year is going to be. Truthfully, it hasn't been all bad. Just slightly stressful. I won't bore you with all the details... but I will tell you that my sweet Lily is definitely approaching those terrible 2's. She has been in timeout quite a few times this week. I'm hoping this will end up being a short phase. I know she's becoming more independent and all... but dang! I can barely get her to let me put her shoes on in the morning. Everything is "MINE!"

Ok, well that's all my ramblings for tonight. I sure do hope this week gets a little better.

Oh, and I have a request. Please pray for my Papa Charlie. He's having some health problems. I do appreciate it!

A Year of Smiles

2010 was a great year for us. Nathan and I really enjoyed watching Lily grow. She is such a happy little girl and she brightens every day with her big smile!

Welcome to 2011!

When I went to bed last night, it was 2010... when I woke up this morning, it was 2011. So far, it's felt like any other Saturday morning - I didn't want to get out of bed, but as soon as Lily started screaming "MAAMMMAAA" at the top of her lungs over and over, I realized I had to drag myself out of bed and fix some breakfast.

I don't know about you, but I'm very much looking forward to all things that 2011 brings. 2010 has been a great year for our family... new jobs, new family members, old friends, new friends, many answered prayers, and lots of new memories. But I think 2011 is going to be so much better. I look forward to getting more involved with the church, community, entertaining more, reading more, spending more time outside.... I also want to start cooking more and attempt to be more organized. I have a few projects I am also ready to tackle around the house. Oh! And to take more pictures!

So, let's catch up now. November was an OK month... Lily was pretty sick. She had Salmonella poisoning and was really sick for about a week. At the same time she had a mild case of chickenpox. Fortunately, she was all better in time for Thanksgiving. We celebrated Thanksgiving at my grandparents house. It was a smaller crowd that usual, but it was a very nice day. We also visited with Papa Charlie. Unfortunately, Papa's health has recently been declining.

December was a much better month. Lily hasn't really been sick this past month, which has been a relief. She's recently had a touch of a cold, but no fever or anything. Just a little congestion. We have really been enjoying our newest family member, Gabriella. She is a sweet, sweet baby! She is already a great sleeper, has a full head of hair, and holds her head up amazingly well. She's definitely ahead of the game. It looks like we're going to have 2 very bright and beautiful girls.

Christmas was a ton of fun! Lily has really enjoyed Santa this year. Mom and Dad have a life-size singing and dancing Santa that Lily has become good friends with. She loved to dance along with Santa!

We missed Nana and Grandpa (Nathan's parents) this year. It just wasn't the same and it's been too long since we've seen them. I know Lily misses them (we do too!). However, we were able to Skype while Lily opened her presents. Some of Lily's gifts included a dollhouse, an art easel, a few new "babies," a pink trike, a table and chairs, lots of books, a boo-boo bear....

We were also lucky to enjoy a little snow that came our way the day after Christmas! Lily wasn't feeling her best that day, so we didn't spend too much time outside. But she did get to enjoy the snow for a short bit. Who would have thought, one week after snow, we would be enjoying 70 degree weather? Only in South Carolina will you have snow on your back porch one day and enjoying Spring-like weather the next (on New Years Day, no less!) Love it!

And today, for New Years, we spent the afternoon at Mom and Dad's with Alice and Gabriella. We ate our greens and peas... well Nathan ate double for me. And Alice definitely ate a bunch. We're all hoping for a high cash flow this year. :) But, regardless of what happens, we are blessed beyond our wildest dreams. It is so easy to take life for granted. It's easy to forget that it can all be taken away in a quick minute. Life is about the memories you make, the people you meet, the time you spend with your family. It's not about money and things. I thank God every day for my amazing parents, my awesome sister, my loving husband, my beautiful Lily, my wonderful in-laws and my incredible friends. My life would have no meaning without these special people.

I'm sorry to say that I will not be posting any pictures with this blog post. Most of you, if not all of you, are my friends on Facebook and therefore see all of my pictures anyways.

I hope you all have a happy, healthy and FUN year! Thank you for being a part of my life!
